Research Assistant Positions

Potential Graduate Students

We typically review new applications each semester (mid-November and mid-April) for positions starting the following semester. Primary selection criteria for this team are interest in and commitment to the lab's research, performance in psychology courses, GPA, and an in-person interview with a graduate student or Dr. Nelson-Coffey.

Research assistants in our lab:
  • Run studies with participants in our lab in CLCC
  • Attend weekly meetings with Dr. Nelson-Coffey and her graduate students to discuss lab issues, research, and graduate school
  • Pilot test procedures and measures
  • Code written and recorded observational data for psychological constructs (e.g., emotional expression).
  • Help brainstorm new studies or changes to ongoing studies

If you're interested in applying to our lab, click on the button below, which will take you to a Google Form that will be submitted directly to Dr. Nelson-Coffey. (NOTE: We only download applications a few times a year, so email Dr. Nelson-Coffey if you have more immediate questions or concerns).
Katie Nelson-Coffey is tentatively accepting at least one new graduate student into the M.S. Psychology program to start in Fall 2024. To inquire about the M.S. Psychology program at ASU or to express your interest in applying for graduate study in the Social Connection & Positive Psychology Lab, email [email protected] with a brief summary of your interests and experience.
